Mobile marketing, Text marketing, & SMS marketing – buzz words that have every retailer thinking about how to add SMS as a complimentary medium to their overall marketing strategy. With SMS turning 20 late last year, you would think that most organisations would know everything there is to know about SMS by now.

2. Product recalls

3. Employee rostering

“We have a shift available on [DATE], [TIME]. Call [NUMBER] if you are able to attend”

4. Online order confirmation & delivery updates

“Your online order will be delivered on [DATE], [TIME]. Call [NUMBER] for customer care. Text STOP to opt-out. [COMPANY NAME].

5. Internal IT monitoring

“Online shopping server, reaching critical disk capacity. Fix now before it impacts your customers!”
 

6. Building your customer database

“For the chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree, join [COMPANY]’S SMS club! Text [KEYWORD] to [MOBILE NUMBER] to join.”

7. Stock Availability

“Your [PRODUCT] is now in-store, ready for pick-up. Call [NUMBER] for customer care. [COMPANY NAME]”

Whilst the above list gives you some things to consider, it is not an exhaustive list by any means. An increasing number of retailers are adopting Mobile Marketing, and Text Marketing as an integral part of their overall communications strategy; however, as per the above, there are also a myriad of other ways you can leverage the simplicity and effectiveness of SMS messaging.
