Online Marking
Salmat first introduced its online marking solution into South Australia in 2007. Online marketing allows all types of assessments to be marked on screen using a secure, easy to use software application. The system is scalable and supports online queries and referrals, control scripts and close but unobtrusive monitoring of standards.
Salmat's online marking software uses the latest Java and Flash technologies. It has been specifically written with government, marker and team leader consultation to ensure that it is easy to use and that it provides all the functionality required to allow marking to complete accurately and efficiently. As Salmat has developed this software internally, we can react quickly to client change requests. The software is also configurable to allow different processes and functionality. More importantly, the software is expandable from a laptop to multiple server configurations. Salmat can also afford markers the option of marking at home or in a marking centre. The hardware requirement for home-based markers is a PC with broadband connection.
In support of its online marking software, Salmat provides a comprehensive testing solution, including form design and document formatting, offset printing materials, overprinting the student details, packing and distribution, tracking the booklets through all processes, booklet collection, booklet unpacking, sorting and guillotining, scanning, data extraction using intelligent character recognition, student matching, report printing, report distribution, and test paper storage.
Online testing will soon provide an extension to Salmat's existing online marking solution. Online testing will replace traditional paper-based testing, eliminating the requirement for time-consuming offset printing of exam papers and document scanning for machine-based marking. With the online testing solution, students can complete an entire test online using a customised version of Salmat's eLearning software.
